Britain In Bloom - Todmorden decision
BRITAIN In Bloom judges have awarded Todmorden a Silver Gilt Achievement Award in one of the tightest sections of the 2007 competition.
Todmorden, representing Yorkshire in the Town section of the awards, was one of five towns out of the six finalists to gain the prestigious Silver Gilt Achievement Award with the other town, Henley-On-Thames, gaining a Silver Achievement Award.
The results, eagerly awaited by Todmorden In Bloom volunteers who have worked so hard through the spring and summer to spearhead Todmorden's effort, were announced at the national ceremony at Coventry Cathedral yesterday as the Todmorden News went to press.
In the end Oakham was the town of the five with Silver Gilt awards in Todmorden's category to have been deemed the section winner by the judges in the closest section of what was a very high standard competition. The Silver Gilt award is the second highest that is made in the competition.
