Who we are and our aims.
The Todmorden in Bloom working group have been meeting since January 2000. Our main aims are to:
Clean up the town, and encourage a sense of pride and community spirit
Establish key areas of planting with a growing emphasis on perennial and sustainable planting
Enthuse the whole community to burst into bloom
Encourage environmental awareness and responsibility in the community
Make the town an attractive and safe place for visitors and residents
Work in partnership with other agencies (voluntary, business and council) involved in Todmorden
Involve and include people of all ages from the many different communities in our town
Encourage community groups to hold planting and clean up events
We are a small active group ranging in age from 67 yrs to 5 yrs old who share all of the tasks from watering to fundraising. We meet monthly in the winter and more often when projects are in progress. We raise funds in various ways from selling cakes and jams to gaining sponsorship from local companies and organisations.
